Thanks Steve...My Geek Brother from Another Mother

Thanks Steve!!!

Another reason why I love the youth and being a geek. For weeks now I've been having an issue with a flood of notifications whenever I opened my Facebook account and I couldn't figure for the life of me why this was happening. I went through my Notification Setting and unchecked EVERY box and to no prevail I still kept receiving updates. (Just this morning there was 98 notifications). I kept asking everyone in my Facebook feed if they were having this issue and if they had a solution and a few people responded or they had no idea what I what I was talking about.

Last night before I went to I checked my specific post on the issue and my Geek Brother and
Facebook friend Steve Tranby offered this answer,

"do you have people in "close friends"? if you go to FRIENDS on left nav(navigation) of your home page (news feed), click on the MORE link, then select one of the lists, and see if the "notifications" button near the top right has a check or not, you can select it and choose on/off?

can also choose update types. Maybe as well you might have to check each individual's page who you get notifications for and change their "notifications" on their timeline (upper right area of their timeline, just below cover photo)"

This "Close Friends" is a new feature from Facebook (I guess this is like the "Circles" feature that Google+ has and I have to admit Facebook, this feature of yours receives an "F" in my opinion) and I added some people and made a list a couple of weeks back (which is when this "problem" began. I went there and sure enough that was the problem. Once I switched the notification to "Off" my problem has come to an end.

Moral of the story. Surround yourself with people smarter than yourself and be persistent (something I'm learning more and more from my Queen) when searching for an answer to your question. This has also has made me realize I need to make my FB "friends" a little smaller.

Thanks Steve, you're da MAN!!!
